Rahul Dravid may play in the first test


Rahul Dravid who injured his right hand fingers during the ODI series is recovering well and is expected to be fully fit in time for the first test match. In the unlikely event of Dravid missing the test, Laxman will lead the Indian team. During the practice session for a tour match against a South African side, Dravid and Ganguly were involved in a long discussion. Speaking to the press, he said that the Indian team can claw back and put up a good show, he also said that with the exception of Zaheer Khan, the bowling is very inexperienced. He remarked Ganguly can play a match winning innings and prove himself.

Ganguly receives a warm welcome


Sourav Ganguly landed in Johannesburg early in the morning and within hours of reaching the hotel suite he paked his kit and went to the training grounds. He was welcomed with a smile by coach Greg Chappel and this was followed by a handshake. All other players responded to him shouting "Welcome DADA". Ganguly then enquired Dravid about his finger
The two players who began their test career together in 1996 against England were then involved in a deep discussion. Ganguly then started practicing at the nets.

Ganguly leaves for South Africa


Former Indian cricket captain has boarded a flight to South Africa to join the Indian cricket team. He has been re-included into the cricket team after the team's debatable performance in the ODI series. Ganguly's performance in the tour game will decide his position in the test team.

Shoaib and Asif Cleared


Pakistan fast bowlers Shoaib Akthar and Mohammad Asif were cleared today against their drug charger and unbanned from playing international cricket. Initially Shoaib and Asif tested positive for a performance enhancing steroid were banned for a two year period from playing any form of cricket recognized by ICC(International Cricket Committee). Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq expressed his wishes to both of them and thanked Allah. In a interview to a television channel Asif expressed his eagerness to come back to the national side and said he was fully fit and its up to the selection committee to take him back into the playing team.

Ricky Ponting third in the list for most test centuries

Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting made the most of opportunity to overtake former teammate and captain Steve Waugh in the list of most centuries scored by a Australian batsmen. Ricky Ponting now has 33 centuries and is in the third place in the all time world record for most test centuries. Other players in the list are Sachin Tendulkar(35), Brian Lara and Sunil Gavaskar with 34 centuries each.

Ashes : Australia lead 2 - 0


The second of the Ashes test series ended today as Australia wrapped up another victory over the England cricket team. The England team really looked out of form against the strong Aussies. Captain Ricky Ponting once again played a match winning innings by scoring 49 runs to pair up with the century he scored in the first innings. The catch which Ashley Giles put down in the Australian first innings proved costly for the touring side as Ricky Ponting went on to score over 100 runs from 36.
Chasing a score of just over 160 Australia cruised through in control at the loss of just 4 wickets. Earlier Shane Warne had take 4 crucial wickets to trigger a England batting collapse.
